South of the Courthouse, on the corner, is Oak Creek Cafe. This restaurant is on the site of a previous building which was used as a cafe, grocery store, 10-cent store, filling station, and, for part of a year, the school. The current building, constructed in 1969, is built over an older, limestone basement once used by Dr. George Edwards, a homeopathic doctor who practiced in the 1920s.

The doctor made his own medicines with nearby well water—”better than any other medicine,” many women said—and delivered babies.
